Uber Eats Initiates Self-driving Robot in Tokyo, Japan 

Global food delivery application Uber Eats, on Tuesday, launched its self-driving sidewalk robots in Tokyo, Japan, in collaboration with software developer Cartken and electronics manufacturing firm Mitsubishi Electric. 

The firm said it looks to deliver food orders to the doorsteps of consumers with its self-driving robot replacing human representatives, taking steps to automate the delivery system. 

The delivery robots will be available to serve orders in Nihonbashi district and this launch marks the largest public area in Japan ever mapped for autonomous robot delivery, said Cartken in its social handles.

Based on a report of Gulf News, Talabat UAE in collaboration with Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority and Roads Transport Authority of Dubai pilot launched three autonomous food delivery robots called ‘talabot’, over a year ago.

In 2022, the firm Uber Technologies initially collaborated with robot developer Cartken to launch Cartken’s self-driving robot to deliver food via automated robots in Miami, Florida.

Also, the food delivery team of Uber, most recently, partnered with Serve Robotics, Nuro and Motional, Robotic and electric vehicle manufacturers with an aim to deliver food in the United States. 

Internet Marketplace Platform Uber Eats, subsidiary of Uber, is an instant delivery of local commerce, focusing on restaurants, merchants, ordering meals, and groceries in just one application.
