IBM Offers Meta’s Llama 3 Open Models on Watsonx

IBM, an IT services and consultancy company offered the availability of Meta Llama 3, the next generation of Meta’s open large language model (LLM), on its Watsonx artificial intelligence (AI) and analytics platform yesterday.

Meta Llama 3 (Meta AI) is the latest build of accessible AI assistants, and an open-source LLM designed for developers, researchers, and organizations to build, experiment, and responsibly scale GenAI concepts. It provides a foundation for global innovation.

Meta AI can be used on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger to complete tasks, learn, create, and connect with what is important to them.

The company said this broadens IBM’s watsonx.ai model library, enabling businesses to innovate with its in-house granite series of models and those from model providers like Meta.

The consultancy company said Llama 3’s integration, expands on IBM’s partnership with Meta to advance open innovation in AI. According to the firm, their experts have worked with numerous businesses to apply Llama models to targeted enterprise pilots and use cases.

IBM and Meta launched the AI Alliance in late 2023, with over 80 founding members and partners from industry, startups, academia, research, and government around the world.

IBM and Meta believe that this open-source initiative will encourage the AI builder and researcher community to advance and exchange feedback in order to drive ethical AI innovation. These are crucial to the invention and development process because the possibilities presented by Llama 3 and other models on the Watsonx platform will lead to revolutionary solutions, resulting in a more inclusive and accessible AI landscape in the future.
